Another year, another semester, and another new month! We hope your new year is unfolding well as we start the second month of 2023.
Today, Tumaini is in an exemplary position, thanks to the skills and commitment of our teams, which remain dedicated to providing quality service to all our beneficiaries. All our teams work hard to contribute to the development of young people, communities, education, and child safeguarding spheres. We need to keep up this work, day after day to reinforce our position while remaining united and committed to our mission. At the same time, we acknowledge that our organisation does not exist on its own but through the interaction and integration of the people who are part of it. Those that we are committed to working with, those who trust us, those who support us, and those who fund us. You have played a big role in this organization and in the lives of the vulnerable in our community. For this, we say “thank you so much”
In 2022, we made significant progress toward our strategic plan to expand our work,
deepen our impact, and focus on the lasting positive changes in the lives of the vulnerable in our community. Thus we have categorized all our programs and projects to enable us to measure our progress easily. We continue to implement projects in the Education and Safeguarding spaces that range from high school fees to needy students, support to widows, strengthening community child protection, and supporting children from other schools within the community. With all the transitions in the education sector and children’s institutions, we have to stay put to make all the changes as directed by the government departments. Today, we know that there is nothing more sustainable than starting early and being there for the children we work with.
We are at a pivotal time of growth at Tumaini as we continue to embark on delivering on our new strategic plan, and we still want to draw inspiration and support from all of you who have allowed us to make it this far. Thank you for continuing to believe in our vision.
Our program highlights
Education
Last year, Tumaini supported 300 children at Brightsmile primary school and 10 from other schools. They were provided with stationery, academic support and lunch at school. The children in other schools received financial support to cater for their education and wellbeing while at home with their guardians/parents. 32 of our beneficiaries successfully graduated from primary school in 2022 and all have joined different high schools in our country. There are 15 teachers and 7 subordinates from the community who worked hard for the success of our children.
In the year 2022 we had 60 students in high school and 25 have successfully graduated high school.
The Competency Based Curriculum has been implemented as our new academic system and the first group of grade 6 students has officially joined Junior Secondary which is 7th grade. We have started admitting new students to Junior Secondary. Most of our children have no sponsors and it is becoming a big problem for them to join Junior Secondary as they have to pay fees. Our sponsorship program is going down and it is our prayer that you will consider reviving it by inviting friends and family members to join this noble cause.
It is our prayer and hope that 2023 shall bring joy and blessings to you and yours. Once again thank you for being part of this family and for changing the lives of the vulnerable for better,
