Learning tailoring.
Aside from the devastating effects of an ongoing covid-19 pandemic and the ensuing lock downs - unemployment, no access to schooling and rising teenage pregnancies - other illness and diseases continue to kill. However, we noticed during the lock down that those that had skills remained back in communities working while others were stopped from working.
So we have continued to work hard skilling community girls, women and youth throughout the last eighteen months and have recruited more than 350 that desire skills training in various aspects.
On a brighter note, we are delighted to announce a successful launch for a skills development program at the centre. The project will be skills Girls, youth and women in various skills development programs like tailoring, hair dressing, computer training, farming, building businesses training, farming and photography but would need everyone’s support to have more get access to the training and pay for power, trainers and teaching materials and we are calling upon all well-wishers to join efforts to prepare a better world for those that are desperate and yearning for survival.

Young girls learning how to us a computer
With the country returing to the lockdown with schools now closed and movements restricted to one district and jobs lost due to the effects of covid-19 have very heartbreaking impact.
Having a significant amount of young people, teenage mothers and housewives out of work can negatively impact a community’s economic growth and development. If left unchecked. With your support we have shifted to skilling communities with tailoring, hairdressing, back yard gardening and computer training to ensure they secure their future and be able to create own jobs, unlock their potential, multiply their productivity and increase their income.
Assumpta, had a sewing machine in her house for so long but could only do repair not real garment creating or sewing because she never had this opportunity to do much bigger work. But after 3 month of Tailoring training with CFYDDI she is now able to make dresses for sell and says she is so lucky that in this ‘difficult’ year(due to Covid-19 ) she has gained very important skill and she plans to Partner with her class fellows so they become real fashion designers!

Outreach team for the teachers during one meeting
With many parents unable to read and write in rural communities, parents through our creative initiatives have been grouped in small clusters with in the neighborhood with the help of teachers have helped and continue to engaged the children in a form of non-formal education to ensure that children to lose the moral and love to study. We have also identified support members with in the neighborhood especially those in high class to ensure continuity. These groups have photo copies of daily newspaper learning materials that parents never continued to afford to buy and we sent these in those registered groups. The 40 groups are supervised by our teaching staff in the communities.
Parents very much appreciate the initiative as it saves them from the daily expenditure and daily photocopying costs to avail the learner’s materials and keeping them busy and safe. There is a skill that the community supports teams are gaining especially those in higher classes of teaching others do revision and teach them.
Your support continue to make this possible in facilitating the teachers and sustain them in these covid-19 hard times, your support make it possible to procure newspapers with learning materials and photocopying for the various groups.
Still here in Uganda the lower classes are still home and for us to ensure we develop children we need to engaged the children and develop their mental faculties through continues learning and playing.
