Thank you friends for supporting our Campus Project for the last couple of years. With your support, we have been able to complete the Dundigal campus. After a lot of hard work and challenges, we were able to provide a decent home to more than 160 children in need and distress.

We have the following facilities in the campus:

1. 18 rooms (dorms)

2. A Library

3. A 2000 sq ft kitchen + dininig Hall

4. A 2000 sq ft Study Hall

5. A Computer Lab with 18 computers, AC and related furniture

6. 26 bathrooms

7. A Room for Warden

8. A Sick Room

9. A Separate Wash Area adjacent to the Dining Hall

10. A 2.5 acre open space

We will be adding another 40 children in the months of June and July. We are planning to set up another campus for more than 80 children in the next 6 months. We are looking for land right now.

For the next 12 months, we will be posting updates about the Sphoorti Boys Project.

Thanks so much for investing in the future of our country. We look forward to a great relationship in the times to come.

Sphoorti children are doing fine. We now have 150 + children in the Dundigal campus, 50 children (Inter and beyond) in our Cherlapally campus and more than 10 children (Intermediate) in other Residential Junior Colleges in Hyderabad.
This year, more than 10 Sphoorti children took admission in Engineering. One of our children secured admission in Computer Science in Sreenidhi Engineering College. Sreenidhi is one of the best Engineering Colleges in Hyderabad.
We also have about 10 children who took admission in BSc and BCom in Bhavan's Vivekananda Degree College which is one of the premier Degree Colleges in Hyderabad. We spend more than Rs 40,000 per child towards College Fee.
In Dundigal, we have almost wrapped up construction of the rooms. We are extending one room and also some rooms for staff.
We have started working with children from Gond tribe. These children come from abject poverty conditions hailing from interiors of Adilabad tribal areas. These children do not speak Telugu. We are putting in extra efforts to mainstream them. We are adding 20 more children from their community this year.
On July 16, we completed 11 years of Sphoorti. On that occasion, we inaugurated our kitchen and dining area with a lot of enthusiasm from our children.
On Oct 11, the Global Vice President Mr. Vivek Mokashi inaugurated the Computer Lab sponsored by Hexagon (Previously known as Intergraph). On September 10, JJ Metta Memorial Library was inaugurated by JJ Metta Chairman Ms Usha.
To provide more privacy to children, we also distributed 200 stainless steel trunk boxes to all our children. We also completed our kitchen and dining hall
During July and August, we celebrated festivals like Bonalu, Raksha Bandhan, Vinayaka Chaviti and Deepavali
Your support over the years has been very valuable in our journey.

    Dear friends,

The Campus Project added a new jewel last month. - A brand new kitchen and dining area.

It was inaugurated by some of of our well-wishers and children. The Kitchen and Dining Area has a total area of 2100 sq ft and has cost us Rs 28,00,000 so far.

As you know, we have already added a Computer Laboratory to our Campus.

We are proud to share that Sphoorti now has one of the best facilities for children in terms of library, computer lab, a sick room and a study hallthat is coming up shortly.

We are planning hard to raise funds for installation of Solar Power as our campus faces unexpected power cuts. We are also planning to install Solar Street Lights to ensure visibility and security 24 x 7.

In July, we also conducted Medical Screening for more than 150 children.  It was the most comprehensive health screening after shifting to the new campus. All records have been made available online.

In addition, we also distributed 200 trunk boxes to help our children keep their belongings safe and private.

Honestly, 4 years ago, we had no confidence and hope that Sphoorti children would enjoy facilities as they are doing now.

    happy girls - M and P

M and P pictured here, are two girl children who came to Sphoorti as orphan girls in 2009 from a tiny village in Telangana. M's parents passed away in an accident while P's father died of cardiac arrest.

For more than 7 years, M and P were staying in rented premises of Sphoorti in a impoverished neighborhood. The premises did not have adequate bathrooms and space for bunk beds. The school was 3 km away and since the school was a private school, we were able to afford only tuition fee and not travel costs. These children used to travel 3 km one way every morning and evening. In addition, the landlords of the rented premises were reluctanct to spend anything on maintenance and repairs in the buildings. We were seen as vulnerable people who would not dare to vacate the building and get stranded on the streets.

At one point, our team realized that having our own land and buildings would help us get rid of minor irritants and give us the much needed flexibility to plan construction as per the children's needs.

After vigorous efforts and interaction with the State Government officials for more than a year, Sphoorti was granted a 3 acre plot in 2010. In 2014, Sphoorti started construction of compound wall followed by construction of a 25,000 sq ft building consisting of Dormitories.

“The new campus though under construction have given us much needed facilities - spacious rooms, bunk beds to sleep on, enough bathrooms, lot of fresh air to walk around and play and most importantly a beautiful building which we call our Home and not Hostel. I learnt a lot from other girls who were learning with me,” M explains. P feels happy as well. She says“The new community and neighborhood is very friendly, the Government school authorities treat us like family. We have three jewels in our building - a library, computer lab and a sick room under construction. Our huge study hall and kitchen make us feel that we are cared for much beyond the basic needs."

In the new environment, we do not have to worry about paying rent. There are no hostile neighbors who look at our children with disdain. Nobody in the school brands our children as "Orphanage Children."

After moving into the new building, we have been able to install CC Cameras to ensure discipline and safety, concentrate on providing good food and clothing, plan our academic activities with more concentration. You will be happy to know that our children won 63 prizes in the last academic year in their school. Our children topped in almost all Grades. Three girls Sh, Si and Va got 9.3 GPA in their  STD X examinations and stood second in their School.

As on today, we spent more than Rs 3 crore on the building, compound wall and basic infrastructure like electricity - poles, wires and transformers. Certain rooms are under construction. We currently have 150 children in the campus and once the rooms are done, we will add another 50 children.

We thank all our donors and well-wishers for their support and faith in our organization and children.

    Dear friends,

Thank you for your continued support to our campus project. We have reached the final stages of our Dundigal campus project.

In the recent months, we have accelerated the construction of the rooms upstairs. We are happy to inform that we are setting up the following:

    1. A library with at least 1500 books being sponsored by a US based nonprofit

    2. A Computer lab being sponsored by Hexagon India.

    3. A sickroom being sponsored by a gentleman from Hyderabad.

    4. Kitchen by Lebara Foundation (UK)

We have 2 families which stay on campus. They have shifted to the staff rooms built over the last few months.

We have installed 6 CC Cameras all over the building in the Ground Floor. We have also installed grills for all the windows on both the floors.

As more rooms get ready, we are planning to add at least 40 girl children in the next few months. The entire structure can support at least 200 children with common facilities like a study room, 20 bathrooms etc.

All outstanding issues with local authorities and community members have been sorted out.

Once the construction of the structure is complete, we will plan additional facilities like Street Lights, Water Recycling Plant and Solar Power. In the next six months, we will also make the entire campus look beautiful by engaging a professional Landscape artist.

At the end of the day, we want to make sure our children are proud of their abode. And a Big Thank You to everyone helping our dream come true. With this kind of support, we hope to reach a stage where smiling faces of a 1000 kids can be seen in one campus.
