A young woman in our community of Puerto Morelos, Mexico, is afflicted by Moyamoya Disease - a rare blood vessel (vascular) disorder in which the carotid artery in the skull becomes blocked or narrowed, reducing blood flow to your brain. This is a severe condition and the treatment is particularly expensive. While the family works hard and is doing their best to provide for their child, the cost of the treatment is overwhelming and the family has reached out to the community for assistance.
Moyamoya is a rare disease. A young woman in our community of modest means has recently been diagnosed with Moyamoya. While her family works tirelessly to ensure she has adequate medical treatment, transportation costs and the cost of the treatment itself has proven unobtainable given their available resources.
While the treatment will be an ongoing endeavor, any funds raised here will alleviate the economic burden to the family and provide the young woman with the best chance of recovery through specialist care and treatment.
While it's unclear if and when she will fully recover, any funds raised here will give her a much higher chance of success to reach a positive outcome. At present, her family is able to afford around 1 treatment session per month, but the doctors have said that to give her the best chance of success, she should be coming for treatment sessions at least once per week. These specialist treatments improve circulation and reduce the risk of her having a severe episode.
