Dialoguing about the future of education!

Talking about the future of education
Talking about the future of education

Dear SOLE Colombia friends,

We’re happy to share with you the latest news from SOLE Colombia.

Like you probably already heard, last year we were part of the great conversation about the future we want to create during the 75th UN Anniversary. More than 2000 people all around Colombia came together in different groups to talk around their own big questions. We had more than 100 conversations around diverse themes taking place in many different regions in the country.

From the beginning we didn't want this great conversation to be a one time event, we wanted to grow a network of diverse people and continue the conversation that would motivate us and all people connected, to take action and work together towards that future we are imagining. One of the main themes was education, and this is why in 2021 we continue talking around the Big Question motivated by PhD Sugata Mitra (creator of SOLE) and PhD Suneeta Kulkarni (Granny Cloud Director): What should the new school look like during and after the pandemic? You can watch the short video below to learn more about it.

The pandemic and the actual situation in Colombia has motivated us to think more deeply about learning and education. Teachers are thinking about different ways to keep the connection with their students, children are asking about what makes sense for them and are needing to connect with their peers, parents are in many cases overwhelmed because of the many tasks they have to achieve day by day. Also in Colombia many children are being left behind due to the lack of connectivity and the worst of all, some are being recruited by armed groups. This makes us think about the importance of education in our country and altogether for the planet we want to live in and leave to our children.

We already talked with teachers, students and soon we’ll be inviting parents and different people from organizations to join us in this conversation. We would love you to be also part of this great conversation about the future of education. If you would like to join, click here to register and we’ll send you more information.

One thing is clear for the majority, education has to change! We’re convinced that the first step towards that change is to talk about it. Join us and help us to spread the word.

Together we are changing the world!

Stay tuned for more SOLE Colombia update soon.

Best,

SOLE Colombia Team
