The power of history we are making

Eliza, SOLE Ambassador in Antioquia

Happy New Year 2023!

In 2022 we made a dream come true: to travel to the communities in Colombia most affected by the war to carry out our particular way of building peace. Because practicing a new way of learning, conversing and taking action together, using the internet, has its maximum power and splendor when we talk about reducing differences, getting closer to each other, making ourselves more human and better, thanks to finding each other. and know us equal.

Do you want to know some stories? Let's go there!

Eliza is a SOLE Ambassador located in a community in Antioquia. She is very sweet, tender, sensitive. There is a lot of care in her sensitivity. She is “berraca, echá p’alante”, slang in Colombia for a gutty, clever, brave, determined, persevering woman. Sociable, he loves to talk and open her heart. Learning is hope for her, she enjoys signing up for courses of the program in which he learned to do SOLE. We have become friends! Eliza learned how to do SOLE in her community thanks to this project. She lets her house so that groups of children and adults who wanted to investigate Big Questions could do so. When we asked Eliza how she felt after her first SOLE session she said something like “now I am no longer anyone's wife, my community recognizes me”. She is learning to bake, she loves cooking and dancing.

Judith is a SOLE Explorer in Valle del Cauca, she is the support of the regional coordinator within the programs implemented in her region. Judith is a very outspoken woman. She is the one who speaks in the most Cali-way without being Cali native, she is the adoptive daughter of a region that embraces her and makes her feel at home. She knows her community, she thinks about her people, she knows how to unite them, what they like. She is very direct, she does not beat around the bush. She sounds harsh at times, but when you kind to know her, you realize she is full of care in her words and actions. In addition, he has a very good humor…. and sometimes dyes it black. Based on her testimony at one of the project meetings, we found out that she had promoted the use of the SOLE methodology in the other lines of work within the project. That's when we learned that she also recognizes the power of using the Internet in a group to learn, discuss and take action together. The power to make SOLE.

The Ambassador Cocktails in the project serve to share experiences, learnings, difficulties and solutions among SOLE Ambassadors. Also in these spaces we find ourselves as humans. We experienced fear due to armed strikes when the Ambassadors shared with us how they were living through those moments of anguish and what they clung to to make the situation more bearable. At the same time one of them, Jorge, showed us the baby fish that he carried in a bag, while he crossed his region in a bus to scare away the sorrows of his companions.

Isn't it amazing? It is inevitable to get in tune, vibrate at the same frequency, express our solidarity and our affection, enter the other's heart and let one's own enter.

Because when we learn together, age, condition, or the point in life where we find ourselves, or the money we have, or where we live, no longer matter. When we learn together we become children again, we let ourselves be carried away by curiosity, we open our hearts and we are capable of what we thought was impossible, vibrating in the best version of ourselves.
