Last week the Festivals took place in the communities of Valle and Cauca. The SOLE Colombia team, together with the IOM Explorers and the 2023 Spinners (those 2022 Ambassadors who wanted to continue this year inspiring new communities to participate), went to each of the communities -yes, the same ones where we held the Inspiration Workshops at the beginning of the year! It seems like yesterday, right? and you can't imagine how the communities reacted, how excited the Ambassadors were waiting for us and the great atmosphere that was experienced in each of the meetings? A real party!

What do the Festivals consist of? I'm going to tell you, but not everything in this post... I like to keep the tension For weeks now, the Ambassadors have been working the invitation to those who felt they could enjoy doing SOLE together and participating in the surprises we had prepared, so, in many places, more than 40 people - incredible! showed up to share a couple of hours doing SOLE and reflecting on how they themselves are improving their relationship with technology, devices and making sense of the Internet connection: using themselves in groups to learn anything they find important. Why in groups? Because learning things in a group is nicer, more fun, more enjoyable and more effective than doing it alone. In addition to inviting people, the Ambassadors decorated the community space with banners and colorful signs, organized the furniture and prepared to attend the 4 stations in which the experience is divided: SOLE - Big Questions, Community, Connection and Abuelitas.

In the SOLE Station - Big Questions the activity is clear, isn't it? The most important thing is that in the Festivals there are 3 "lightning" SOLEs, each lasting 20 minutes, where the Big Questions are related to each other on the same topic. This means that in about an hour the participants get to know more about the topic in question, must exercise their ability to search the Internet, evaluate the information, dialogue with each other and choose conclusions, as well as collect new Big Questions in each of the SOLE rounds... a real challenge in terms of technology and curiosity!

In the Community Station, participants are initiated in the creation of content on the Internet . You know that the Internet is built and cared for by all of us, so each Community starts a "padlet" -it is an online tool that allows them to create collaborative murals- where they collect relevant aspects of their community: geography, history, customs, community, celebrations... whatever they can think of. Do you want to take a look at the padlets of this year's Communities? You can do it on our website (solecolombia.org), under the "SOLEro System" button (or click directly here).

And, you know, I already counted a lot ... I'll keep the Connection Station and the Granny Station for the next installment .... See you soon!
