This project aims to install 100 solar-powered water systems in drought-affected areas of Pakistan, including Tharparkar, Cholistan, and South Punjab. These systems will provide reliable access to safe drinking water for vulnerable families, schools, and rural communities. By using renewable solar energy, the project will reduce dependence on costly water sources, improve health and hygiene, and provide a sustainable solution to water scarcity.
Thousands of families in Pakistan's drought-affected regions struggle to access safe drinking water. Dry wells, extreme heat, and declining groundwater levels force women and children to travel long distances to collect water. Unsafe drinking water increases the risk of waterborne diseases, while water shortages threaten livestock, livelihoods, children's education, and the well-being of vulnerable rural communities.
Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan will install 100 solar-powered water systems in water-scarce communities, prioritizing areas with limited access to safe drinking water. Each system will use solar energy to pump water into storage tanks and accessible collection points. The project will involve local communities in site selection, maintenance, and water management to ensure reliable operations, affordability, and long-term sustainability.
The project will create lasting access to safe drinking water for underserved communities across Pakistan. Solar-powered systems will reduce operating costs, improve community health, and save women and children hours spent collecting water
