In Japan, it is rare to see Artwork in office spaces. Some offices have big meeting rooms they use frequently and nothing on the wall. There are many positive benefits that an Artwork can create. In addition, Outsider Art in Japan is undervalued compared to other countries. This project will help two needs where it will increase productivity in the workplace by displaying Art in office space and will also lead to appropriate evaluation of Outsider artwork and its purchasing.
There are many great artists with disability in Japan, and their Artwork is unknown and undervalued. The artists without formal training are the Outsider Art or Art Brut. They are untrained but also have limited access to art production. These artists have great potential but lack the opportunity to express or show their Artwork, being excluded from the professional community.
The project will provide Outsider artists to display their work in corporate offices as it is less likely to see many offices displaying Artwork in Japan. A bright, creative workspace can elevate employees' creativity, productivity, and happiness. It will also improve communication and increase engagement within the office, their family members, and friends. Holding the Art Caravan in offices will lead to appropriately determining the value of the Outsider Art.
This project will expand the opportunities to allow outsider artists to display their work and be more recognized in Japan, leading worldwide. We plan to continue the Art Caravan projects in corporate offices and exhibitions as well as online Art Talk, which will provide more information on the specific Outsider artwork and the history of Outsider Art to office employees and the community to impact society as a whole positively.
