Sports, particularly soccer, have the power to bring people together, break down barriers, and drive important social conversations. This project aims to support school boys and girls with soccer kits as a means to promote menstrual awareness, challenge stigma, and encourage gender equality.
Due to fear of embarrassment, lack of proper knowledge, or lack of access to menstrual products, many girls miss out on physical activities, including soccer, which affects their confidence and participation. Boys are rarely involved in conversations about menstruation, reinforcing negative attitudes and misinformation about the topic. We hope to use football as an innovative means of engaging boys in the topic of menstruation. By integrating menstrual health education into sports activities.
This project will distribute soccer kits (jerseys, shorts, boots, shin guards, cone, socks, and soccer balls) to school boys and girls, using sports as a platform to introduce menstrual awareness sessions. By engaging both genders in a fun and using sports as a conversation starter, we can break taboos, foster empathy, and create a supportive school environment. Also this project will serve as a way to involve young girls in male dominated activity like soccer.
This project will help create a school environment where menstruation is openly understood, respected, and free from stigma. By involving both boys and girls in soccer and menstrual awareness activities, we build confidence in girls, promote gender equality, and encourage healthier attitudes among boys. Over time, more girls will feel comfortable participating in sports, staying active, and remaining in school, while boys grow into supportive allies.
