To our small family of supporters, we need your help. At present the location of the ISCP Sumatran Slow loris rehabilitation center is in the village of the Rumah Pilpil, Sibolangit sub-district, North Sumatra and around our center there are around 20-25 families of slum people, with simple mud floor households. We are very close to the villagers surrounding our sanctuary and often help each other. They keep our property safe and we provide clothing, stationery and books for children, clothing and dog food and worming medications for their animals and have done since 2018/2019. In the current conditions, we must turn to you (as we have no other choice), the friends of ISCP to help with the basic needs of the wonderful slum people, the community that helps protect our slow loris’ who are vulnerable and disproportionately affected by the Corona Virus which is hitting Indonesia hard,
We want to help our underprivileged siblings around the ISCP center. By providing them with much needed staples for the next two months such as:
1. Rice, sugar, milk, oil and eggs for 20 families with an estimated budget of ± 250 USD
2. (4) 20 kg dry dog food ± 92 USD
3. (20) Hand sanitizer with estimate ± 80 USD
4. (20) bath soap ± 20 USD
5. Support for the salary of one slow loris keeper at ISCP center for 2 month ± 190 USD

Still in the condition of the COVID-19 pandemic and also the difficult financial condition of the ISCP financial operation at the moment, but our warrior Sumatran Slow loris rescue fighters, both ISCP volunteers and BKSDA Aceh,BKSDA North Sumatra and others wildlife volunteers continue to struggle to save the Sumatran slow loris from Illegal maintenance of slow lorises in Aceh ... This following with the report of ISCP members to BKSDA Aceh before , and today on June 8, 2020.three individual slow lorises in 2 different locations were confiscated by BKSDA Aceh together with members of the ISCP in Aceh. After the BKSDA Aceh with the ISCP team examined the slow loris healthy condition, have complete teeth and are still wild, on the same day at exactly 22.00 Pm in the evening the 3 slow lorises are returned to their homes in the Aceh forest conservation area safely.release Sumatran Slow Loris

Every year, not less than hundreds or even thousands of individual Sumatran slow loris (Nycticebus coucang) are the object of hunting to be traded as pets, materials or mythical media for traditional medicine. Not a few of them eventually died at the hands of hunters, traders and even keepers Slow loris as a pets. This crime chain takes not only slow lorises from their home, but also cruel processes that are injured, teeth are forced to be pulled out and made into pets, and their body parts are used as a mediator tool for traditional medicine which is only a myth and commercially traded through social media, in fact all of that medicine from Slow loris body is just a myth.
From year to year since the ISCP Sumatran Loris Rehabilitation Center was established at the end of 2016, ISCP together with the North Sumatra and Aceh BKSDA have released more than 75 Sumatran Slow lorises into the wild from animal confiscation and animal trafficking. The rescue of the Sumatran slow loris and other wildlife carried out Indonesia Species Conservation Program (ISCP) in North Sumatra, Aceh and other Sumatra regions continues to increase and many of them are in poor health when they are found, for example experiencing malnutrition, eye pain and tooth decay and so on.

As per our updated information yesterday, a female individual Sumatran slow loris which confiscated by the BKSDA together with the ISCP team from resident who took care of it illegally in the village of Pante raya,Pesam sub-district, district Bener meriah, Central Aceh, and today Monday May 11/ 2020 . The BKSDA Aceh team together with ISCP released the slow loris back to its natural habitat in the Aceh forest area. Some of our most important actors at the ISCP are our wildlife and conservation workers, including the keepers and volunteers who work across several areas over the North Sumatran and Aceh Provinces. They are tasked with such duties as monitoring and patrolling areas, caring for wildlife collected from the community, and investigations into the illegal captivity of wildlife for pets or trade prior to being released from our ISCP Center. Their participation is what has helped us keep wildlife alive and safe within their habits. However, since the end of February the invasion of Coronavirus' COVID-19'into Indonesia has restricted almost all aspects and regulations related to the work that our teams are carrying out. The pandemic has caused a severe loss of income which has impacted both our workers and their families, including their abilities to work as wildlife protectors and to travel to and from our wildlife sanctuaries. We encourage anyone who follows our work either as part of our 'Friends of ISCP', 'Friends of Slow Lorises' or who might be seeing this through Instagram or Facebook, to take part in helping us through these difficult times. Conservation efforts must not stop. Tuesday (04/14/2020) a joint team consisting of the North Sumatra BKSDA and Yayasan Program Konservasi Spesies Indonesia (YPKSI) or in English is also known as the Indonesian Species Conservation Program (ISCP) releasing Sumatran slow loris (Nycticebus coucang) and Leopard Cat (Felis bengalensis) in to the safe forest leuser ecosystem area.
The Covid 19 pandemic situation has indeed made all humans in difficult conditions on this earth. However, we can not #stayathome if there are wildlife who need our help. On March 23, 2020, Nature Conservation Agency,North Sumatra (BKSDA) received a report of residents keep a slow loris as a pet in Medan Sunggal ,then team moved quickly to confirm the slow loris information and coming to the location.
After getting socialization and awareness from the local Wildlife authorithy (BKSDA), the residents finally handedover the slow loris and then BKSDA sent it to the ISCP Slow Loris rehabilitation center.
Furthermore, the ISCP Team examination arrival the slow loris in good condition with male sex, weight 625 grams, complete teeth and still have wild behaviour.
Wait for coordination with BKSDA, the new slow loris with four individual slow lorises who are currently at the ISCP center will be ready to be released in an indefinite period of time waiting for a conducive covid 19 situation.
