Happy Spring from GlobeMed!
We have some exciting Set Her Free updates. First, Set Her Free has changed the location of one of its centers. It is now closer to their second center in the Kawempe district. This center is also near a police station so a larger number of missing or abused younger girls are being referred to Set Her Free where staff sees to their general safety and welfare including reconnecting them with parents. While this is an unfortunate reality, it is a big way that Set Her Free is impacting its local community and becoming integrated with its community, as well.
In addition, as you may know, Set Her Free received a Presidential Emergency Plan for Aids Relief (PEPFAR) grant to put towards their pad program. With the grant completed, Set Her Free has distributed about 1500 pad kits to the school girls in Rakai. Set Her Free will also be receiving a letter of recommendation from the PEPFAR fund to be used in applying for future grants.
Looking forward, Set Her Free is continuing their operation of their Tailoring Center and looking to start training women in the vocational program in charcoal brick making, another useful skill. GlobeMed is excited to continue supporting Set Her Free with these new changes.
Lastly, Global Giving is generously matching at 50% any donations made between April 3rd and April 7th as part of their Little By Little Campaign. Additionally, any recurring donations that are set up during that time period next week will be matched, as well. We hope you consider donating as part of this campaign, and any amount is very helpful (hence the name of the campaign).
Best,
The GlobeMed Team
