Nepal Earthquake of 7.6 Richter scale which had the epicenter of Barpak Village of Gorkha District at 12:56 of Baishakh 12, 2072 (25th April, 2015) caused thousand of deaths and injuries and millions rupees of destruction. The aftershocks continued in the days to come as well. After 18 days of the megaearthquake, on 29th Baishak, 2072 (12th May, 2015) at 12:50 again an aftershock of 6.8 Richter scale striked Nepal which had the epicenter of Dolakha district. The quake affected many districts of mountainous area. Kavrepalanchowck district was also badly affected by the aftershock of the quake. All the wards of five municipalities and seventy five VDCs of Kavrepalanchowck district were badly affected. It caused 318 casualties and 1179 injuries. 49933 households were entirely damaged and 23714 households were partially damaged.

Civic Forum for Sustainable Development (CIVIC FORUM), an organization registered in Kavrepalanchowck has supported fifty households of earthquake survivors to construct the shelter in Banakhu VDC in Kavrepalanchowk in support with GlobalGiving Foundation for fund collection. The details of the accomplished activities are as follows:

After the agreement with GlobalGIving Foundation, Civic Forum for Sustainable Development, the meeting of the executive committee decided to give the responsibility of buying corgulated galvanized iron (CGI) sheets to the purchase Committee of the organization. The committee purchased 75 (seventy-five) bundle of corgulated galvanized iron (CGI) sheet from the local market.

Civic Forum organized a meeting with the entire earthquake affected households and selected the beneficiaries. They were also requested to receive the support materials from the place of accessibility of the motor roads nearby Banakhu.

Civic Forum delivered the materials to Banakhu where materials were transported by truck. The beneficiaries received the materials there. We handed over the plain sheet 1.5 (one and half) bundle each to 50 (fifty) households.

The beneficiaries carried the materials on their backs from Banakhu to their village due to having no road transport. Afterwards, they constructed the temporary shelter and are living in it. It has helped them in living comfortably and their activities are slowly changing into those before the earthquake.
