In response to a devastating cyclone that damaged the OBHIZATRIK school on Charlata Island, Patuakhali district, we are initiating a project to construct a new, dual-purpose facility. This building will serve both as a school for underprivileged children and as a cyclone shelter, addressing the urgent educational and safety needs of the island's community. The facility aims to accommodate up to 1000 individuals during emergencies, providing a safe haven and continuing education for 200 children.
Patuakhali's coastal region faces a crisis with frequent floods and cyclones destroying vital structures like the OBHIZATRIK school, leaving residents without shelter or education. This project aims to build a robust facility to safeguard and educate the community in emergencies. This project seeks to address the dire need for a durable cyclone shelter and educational facility, as the community grapples with recurring natural disasters, lacking safe refuge, and reliable access to basic services.
The project is designed to withstand climate change, the shelter ensures the safety and well-being of its residents. It will provide essential services such as food, clean water, healthcare, and sanitation facilities, addressing immediate needs and stopping further risks in the aftermath of disasters. By constructing a school cum cyclone shelter, this project will secure education for 200 children and offer emergency shelter for 1000 people during emergencies.
This project has the potential to create lasting change in the community. It will bring people together and help them support each other during tough times like storms or floods. By teaching people how to prepare for disasters and providing essential help like food and healthcare, it will make the community stronger and safer in the long run. This initiative will unite the community, offering resilience against disasters and quality education for island children.
