As a collective, we have decided to put a temporary hold on the Tumaini Initiative for 2023 and look forward to re-launching it in 2024!
The Tumaini Initiative is an innovative year-long technical textile design and self-development business training program that will provide dignified work in Kenya. By bringing more skilled workers into Kenya's workforce, the country's population will be able to support and employ one another, igniting a ripple effect movement of positive change. This, in turn, will break the generational cycle of poverty and create economic development and growth that will fight back against Kenya's widespread poverty.
As an organization, we remain committed to providing dignified employment opportunities, skills training, and holistic support programs that help artisans reach economic independence.
We look forward to continuing this journey together next year, and we thank you for your continued support, encouragement, and generosity.
We are so excited to what 2023 has in store for Imani Collective. We couldn’t do this without our you and for that I want to express my gratitude for your support.
There are many cost to running a non-profit. Some of the more obvious ones for the Tumaini Initiative project is the cost of: sewing machines, sewing materials, and the up keep of these machines. Some of our additional and less obvious costs include needles, measuring tapes, work tables and chairs.
To give you an idea here are a few specific costs:
$40 covers 1 chair for and artisan for their sewing station;
$20 provides set up pliers for our artisans;
$50 provides 1 bench for our artisans to sit for computer, literacy and financial literacy trainings;
$150 provides 1 sewing machine for an artisans;
$500 provides 2 head screen printing machines
Please consider giving at one of these levels noted above. In return for your donation (which is tax deductible) you will receive a letter of thanks, which serves as your receipt.
Purchase a Sewing Machine + Empower a Women today!
By Lacy Vollmuth | Director of Partnerships
Over the next four months, we are pushing to raise $11,835 to purchase new sewing machines for our training initiative launching in 2023. This opportunity will empower 20 women living in extreme poverty to be trained in market demand skills. By teaching women sewing and tailoring skills, we are helping change the trajectory of their futures and their families.
Imani Collective needs to purchase ten sewing machines to support 20 women on their journey to economic freedom. We have already helped over 100 women overcome poverty and seen their family lives transformed.
With your donation, we can continue uplifting communities throughout Kenya.
