SIERRA LEONE: Leicester charity sends medical aid worth thousands of pounds!
Container donation - Feedback from Mendewa Clinic
This report is based on the following items received by Mendewa Clinic via the shipping container; 10x Surgical packs (for maternity and for spinal anesthesia), surgical gowns, goggles and aprons.
What difference have the items made to your patients and the staff at your health unit?
PPE (gloves, aprons, gowns and goggles) are very expensive in Sierra Leone. Having a supply of good quality PPE has meant protection for staff and patients. The maternity packs are fantastic because all that is needed for a safe delivery are available.
If possible, can you tell us how many patients have directly benefitted from the specific items?
To date, approximately 100-150 patients. There are still supplies so delivery of service with the supplies is ongoing.
Can you supply any stories about patients or staff to whom these medical supplies have made a difference?
The staff are impressed with the quality and functionality of the maternity packs. The staff are alsp thankful that they do not have to reuse PPE due to the cost of replacing them. We at Mendewa Clinic are very grateful.
Report by Imelda Forde - Head of Health Unit.
