We learn that learning is more than academics!

ACES teaches how to stop Global Warming
ACES teaches how to stop Global Warming

Teaching is more than just teaching academics.  Teaching is about life skills, social skills and teaching respect for one another. Academics and student achievement are topics in the forefront of the conversation surrounding education. Teachers are constantly working with their students who have varying needs in order to ensure that they are growing and learning. Teachers need to be thanked because we know it is a hard job.

Most teachers agree that the rewards of teaching outweigh the challenges.  An estimated 99% of teachers agree with the statement: Teaching is more than academics; it is also about reinforcing good citizenship, resilience and social skills. Every elementary school teacher's quote echoes that sentiment.

So, what makes a great teacher? Everyone agrees that there isn't just one attribute or skill. It is a combination of many talents and strategies that make a teacher great, from classroom management to content delivery. However, it is extremely important to create an environment where students feel safe making mistakes. Additionally, teachers need to be interested in students' lives in and outside of school.

Academics are crucial but it is important to remember the many different aspects of teaching and how much students grow and develop when in school with teachers as their mentors and role models.  Here at ACES we believe we keep all of this in mind and all decisions are made in the best interest of the child. We consider the whole person and what accommodations each and every child may need to become successful as they progress through school and life.

Typically, to educate a child in a small classroom so they can receive more one on one time, it costs approximately $300.00 USD per month.  Our tuition brings in about half of that cost!  So, with 100 students on campus it is easy to do the math.  We need to raise approximately $150,000.00 USD per year to meet the basic needs of our students.

Then, there are students whose parents have financial needs which would prohibit their child from continuing to come to ACES due to the tuition being charged.  Each year we need to find sponsors for these children.  That is where you have an opportunity, you can sponsor a child for the whole year, or even just a part of a year.  By doing this, you are paying it forward and making sure that the world in the future is a better place.  Better because we have been able to keep one more child in school and educated them in all aspects of being a good citizen.

We are told, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6

Children are the future…be a part of it!
