PAGA Services & Beneficiaries Update

By Terry Haas | President

Thanks to you, our generous donors, we have raised over USD $6,600 towards this project. Our goal was, and still is, USD $20,000 but we are already moving forward with the amount raised, which will fund 40 Filipino Amerasian children for a year!

Since the fundraiser promotion period, which ended on June 28, PAGA has continued with its busy calendar of events and services for assisting the development of our beneficiaries.

Here are some of the activities that PAGA has sponsored or participated in since the fundraiser:

US Flag Day - 10 youth and 1 parent attended the activity on June 10 upon the invitation from the Manila Elks Lodge 761. Social worker Phen and program assistant Axil also attended. 5 PAGA youth served as flag bearers and were thankful for the experience and appreciated learning about some of America’s patriotic customs and practices. Each one also received a school bag filled with school supplies.

4th of July Celebration - at the Corinthian Carpark in Makati City. 10 beneficiaries participated and were accompanied by social workers Phen and Rory.

Dental Health Care clinic - July 27, targeting 50 youth

Self Care and Self Management seminar - Aug 17, targeting 30 youth and parents

This seminar provided beneficiaries and parent knowledge about protecting one's self during periods of stress and difficult situations. It also aimed to raise awareness on certain laws to protect women and children against acts of violence, in particular, the Anti-Violence against Women and Children Act of 2004 (R.A. 9262).

A Resource Person from the Makati City Social Welfare Development Office facilitated the seminar.

Interactive Workshop for College and Senior HS - Aug 31, targeting 38 youth

Thanks again for your donations. They are critical to our ongoing support and services.

With much appreciation,

Terry Haas
