From April 16 to May 1, 6 students of schools in Paraguay that implement the Financially Self-Sustainable School model participated in a Penguin Bootcamp for Tech. The students, three enrolled at Cerrito Agricultural School and three enrolled at Belen Agricultural School, spent 2 weeks in Asunción, Paraguay participating in this bootcamp, thanks to a partnership between Penguin Academy and Fundación Paraguaya.
A Penguin Bootcamp is an intense 2 week programming course that brings participants from Zero Programming knowledge to an internship level. Participants experience 5 days of programming fundamentals, with 3 days of workshops culminating in a 3 Day hackathon where participants build a product from scratch. Products created in this hackathon product could potentially be the basis for a new startup for these participants. After the bootcamp, participants are automatically part of the Penguin Talent Pool where they can be hired by one of Penguin's Corporate Partners. If participants want to continue developing, they can become part of the Penguin Lab where they work on a real world project under the guidance of one of our Senior Developers.
This partnership provides a huge opportunity for students coming from rural schools that want to learn coding, programming, software development, etc. as well as the steps to starting a real business around the growing tech industry in Paraguay. This partnership will continue to grow and continue to provide students from self-sustainable schools with opportunities to hone their skills both in and out of the classroom!
