Self Employment of Persons with Disabilities

The Self-Employment of Persons with Disabilities project aims to empower individuals with disabilities in Pakistan by providing them with the necessary resources, training, and support to start their own businesses or engage in income-generating activities. The project focuses on promoting economic inclusion, enhancing skill development, and fostering entrepreneurship among persons with disabilities. 

Key Achievements:

1. Skills Training Workshops:

   • Conducted a series of skills training workshops in collaboration with local vocational training centers, covering a wide range of topics such as entrepreneurship, business management, financial literacy, and marketing strategies.
   • Engaged experienced trainers and facilitators to deliver tailored training sessions that cater to the diverse needs and abilities of participants with disabilities.

2. Business Development Support:

   • Provided individualized mentorship and coaching to aspiring entrepreneurs with disabilities, offering guidance on business plan development, market research, product/service refinement, and access to startup capital.
   • Facilitated networking opportunities and partnerships with local business associations, government agencies, and microfinance institutions to create a supportive ecosystem for disability-inclusive entrepreneurship.

3. Access to Resources:

   • Distributed grants and microloans to eligible participants to help them establish or expand their businesses, purchase necessary equipment and supplies, and cover initial operating expenses.
   • Collaborated with suppliers and vendors to negotiate discounted rates for assistive technologies, adaptive equipment, and accessible infrastructure to accommodate the needs of entrepreneurs with disabilities.

4. Community Engagement:

   • Organized awareness campaigns and community outreach events to challenge stereotypes, raise awareness about the capabilities of persons with disabilities, and promote inclusive employment practices among employers and society at large.
   • Celebrated success stories and achievements of entrepreneurs with disabilities through media coverage, testimonials, and awards ceremonies to inspire others and foster a culture of disability pride and empowerment.
