Self Employment leads to prosperity

This report details the progress of the "Self-Employment of Persons with Disabilities" project in Nawabshah, Sindh, funded by global donors through the GlobalGiving platform. The project aims to empower persons with disabilities (PWDs) by providing vocational training, tools, and seed funding to establish their own income-generating activities. The project promotes independence, dignity, and economic inclusion for PWDs, enabling them to lead more self-reliant lives.

Project Objectives

  • To provide vocational training to 100 persons with disabilities in Nawabshah.
  • To offer startup tools, equipment, and seed funding to PWDs for establishing self-employment ventures.
  • To improve the economic conditions of PWDs and reduce dependency on external assistance.
  • To raise community awareness about the capabilities of PWDs and promote inclusive employment.

Funds Received from GlobalGiving

  • Primary Uses of Funds:
    • Vocational training (in tailoring, handicrafts, computer skills, and small business management)
    • Purchase of startup tools and equipment (sewing machines, handicraft tools, computer equipment)
    • Seed funding for small business ventures
    • Community outreach and awareness programs

4. Progress Towards Objectives4.1. Vocational Training

  • Target: Train 100 persons with disabilities in various vocational skills.
  • Progress: 85 persons with disabilities have successfully completed training programs in tailoring, handicrafts, computer skills, and small business management. Training was conducted in partnership with local vocational centers and included both theoretical and practical components.
  • Use of Funds: The raised money was allocated for the training programs, including training materials, instructors' fees, and venue costs.
  • Still working to raise more money to include more persons with disabilities into program of self employment.
