This project aims to contribute to improving living conditions and reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation through self-help services. In this approach, the project wants to intervene in 4 interconnected activities: 1) Environmental protection 2) Health 3) Food security 4) Education Action plans will be developed and implemented in the cities of Bunia and Komanda. These interventions or trainings will be implemented by the NGO FORDECO.
Charcoal and other energy sources of plant origin account for more than 95% of energy consumption in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The industry consumes only 1% of the energy produced in the DRC. These figures contained in the annual report of the Energy Information System (EIS / 2010) of the Ministry of Energy contrast with the energy potential of the DRC.This project is in line with the UN-REDD + program (the United Nations Collaborative Program on Reducing Emissions from tree cutting.
This project aims to reduce deforestation and forest degradation, sustainably improve the incomes of local communities and reduce the vulnerability of widows and orphans to their financial problems. Concerned with respect for the environment, FORDECO wishes to produce clean organic (green) coal for which renewable energy resources are used and whose packaging is completely recyclable.
In the long term, the recycling of waste will contribute to the respect of the principles aiming to preserve the health and the cleanliness in the private and public places. No poverty, Good Health and Well Being, Clean Energy and Affordable Cost Relative action to fight against climate change, Terrestrial life. In the approaches piloted in the option of no poverty, this project will have a positive impact on the reduction of the vulnerability rate of the actors.
