Baby of Vinutha, 4 weeks female baby
The baby was screened at Apollo Cradle for ROP screening. The baby was born with birth weight of 840 gms. The baby was screened for ROP, the fundus pictures of the baby showed Retinopathy of Prematurity in stage 3 with aggressive (APROP-Aggressive Posterior ROP) disease. The baby was advised for ROP management at the earliest to stop the aggressive progression of disease & to save the sight.
Plan of treatment
The baby received 1st sitting of laser photocoagulation treatment on 05.05.2016. The baby was reviewed on 28.05.2016. The APROP progression was persisting, the child was advised for 2nd sitting of laser photocoagulation intervention. As on 11.06.2016 the baby is doing well and ROP has regressed & the baby is now 12 weeks old with weight of 1940 gms.

BABY OF MAHADEVI, 8 weeks male baby from Gulbarga, Karnataka, India
The baby was screened at Indira Gandhi Institute of Child Health Centre for ROP. The baby was born in gestation period of 27 weeks with birth weight of 1280 gms with date of birth 02.10.2015. When screened on 30.10.2015; the fundus pictures of the baby showed NO Retinopathy of Prematurity. The baby was advised for close follow-up as chances of progression was present. When the baby was reviewed on 01.02.2016 (17 weeks) the fundus images showed Retinopathy of Prematurity in stage 2 in zone 2. The baby was weighing 4200 gms. The baby was advised for ROP laser management under sedation due to weight of the baby.
Plan of treatment
The Laser therapy was scheduled at IGICH in NICU unit. The availability of OT for laser was planned, anaesthetist availability dates were noted. After entire arrangements in-house laser machine was carried to IGICH, as our mobile unit was on tour as per the scheduled dates. As a result of concerted effort the baby underwent laser treatment & is doing well & ROP has regressed.

The baby was screened at Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences for ROP screening. The baby was born with birth weight of 900 gms. The fundus pictures of the baby were uploaded on to our inbuilt software. The screened pictures showed Retinopathy of Prematurity in stage 3 with disease. The baby was advised for ROP management at the earliest to stop the progression of disease & to save the sight.
Plan of treatment
With a travel distance of 103 kms, our Medical Director planned the visit to MIMS for management of the baby. Timely screening & intervention helped to save sight. In the follow-up the baby is doing well, ROP has regressed. The determined effort has ended in good result.
