School Sanitation Project provides essential sanitation facilities, including toilets, urinals, cupboards, dustbins and wash station to rural schools in Ghana. We have built 20 urinals in 20 rural schools, significantly improving the quality of life for over 6,000 staff and students. Additionally, we supplied cupboards and dustbins to enhance classrooms and environments. We hope to build 20 more urinals in 20 new communities, achieve our mission to create healthier, safer learning environment.
Rural communities in Ghana face severe sanitation challenges, with 67% of schools lacking toilets and urinals, leading to open defecation and health hazards. This compromises student safety and contradicts efforts to create a conducive learning environment. Additionally, classrooms often lack storage facilities, resulting in the destruction of educational materials. Addressing these issue is crucial for ensuring students can learn and thrive in a healthy, safe and supportive environment.
FSAworks with communities to build toilets and urinals and provide cupboards, bookshelves, and dustbins to rural school. Our model is based on empowerment rather than Charity. We collaborate with the Parent-Teacher associations, community members and leaders who contribute local resources like sand, water, and labor. We provide building materials like cement, wood, PVC pipes and paint to complete constructing the facilities. This ensures sustainable, community-driven improvements in sanitation.
Our non-profit's solutions create lasting impact by improving sanitation and hygiene in rural schools in Ghana. Our project will empower 20 communities to address their own challenges through self-help initiatives impacting over 6000 staff and children. This approach fosters a great sense of responsibility and promotes sustainable, healthier, and better-equipped schools and communities, enhancing long-term community development and well-being of pupils, teachers and the community at large.
