We are excited to report that five new school gardens are starting to grow in Honduras!
On May 15, 16, and 17, we gathered with 10 participants (teachers and technical staff) from three of our local partner organizations in Comayagua, Honduras. There, Fabretto's team trained participants in the basics of the "Huerto Educador" program. Each teacher received a set of Fabretto manuals to guide the process of starting a garden at their school.
Our program is special - it's designed to bring the whole school community together and includes a curriculum that teachers can use to establish the garden and begin to integrate hands-on work into the typical primary school curriculum.
Since May, the teachers have created plans, worked with the school community to acquire materials and tools (some provided by Fabretto, and some donated locally), and begun to lay the foundation for their gardens.
We look forward to sharing with you how their gardens grow over the next semester. Thank you for being a part of this initiative and for supporting sustainable approaches to food security in rural Honduras!
