Saved Dreams: Ukrainian Teens Suicide Prevention

By Swjatoslawa Nykorowycz-Mendel | Country Director

The webinar for teenagers aged 16–18 entitled “Anger Without Explosions” was successfully conducted online by Right to Protection Poland.

The webinar addressed the challenges adolescents face when experiencing intense anger, particularly in the context of relocation, war, and significant life changes. The session aimed to help participants better understand why emotions may become stronger during periods of instability and how anger can be expressed in constructive, non-destructive ways that do not harm themselves or their relationships.

During the meeting, the following topics were covered:

  • the reasons why emotions intensify after moving, experiencing war, or major changes;

  • the nature and function of anger and aggression;

  • how tension accumulates in the body and practical ways to release it;

  • strategies to avoid taking out frustration on loved ones;

  • how to communicate personal boundaries and needs without escalating conflicts;

  • coping with shame, insecurity, and feelings of “not being good enough.”

Participants were provided with a safe, non-judgmental space where speaking was encouraged but not obligatory. The webinar included clear explanations of emotional processes, short practical exercises suitable for everyday life, techniques for safely expressing anger, and tools to strengthen internal resilience and self-support.

The session was delivered by Olena Liashenko, psychologist of the Foundation, who provided professional guidance and facilitated the discussion in an accessible and supportive manner.
