November update

Eagle Warriors during fieldwork.
Eagle Warriors during fieldwork.

Dear friends,

Last October we organized a symposium on golden eagle conservation and management as part of a prominent ornithological congress held in the city of Saltillo. Our speakers talked about the current conservation status of golden eagles in Mexico and highlighted some of the most recent scientific findings regarding the species. Due to an increased field monitoring effort—partly made possible through your support—the estimated number of breeding pairs is now 156, representing a 13 percent increase relative to 2017.

In the last few months, our fieldwork has produced great results. With the help of our amazing community monitoring brigade—aptly called the “Eagle Warriors”—we have recorded ten new nesting territories and identified several potential sites for future habitat restoration.

Finally, in collaboration with our friends at National Geographic, we published three short articles showcasing the project, which helps us bring the plight of the golden eagle to a broader audience.

Your support helps us save the Mexican golden eagle from extinction. Thank you for joining us on this journey and please consider renewing your contribution to the project.

(ESPAÑOL)

Queridos amigos,
