Dear Friends,
We are less than three weeks away from our annual Trees to the Sea event! We are looking forward to digging in with our volunteers along the Imperial Highway median to care for our plantings and help reduce air pollution.
Over 500 trees were planted in the median of Imperial Highway adjacent to LAX, the world's fifth busiest airport and immediately north of El Segundo. It took Tree Musketeers, an organization led entirely by the youth, to overcome local governmental bodies that said it couldn’t be done. The determination of its youth leaders and volunteers in making Trees to the Sea a reality transformed the Imperial Highway median from a regional embarrassment into a thriving, growing urban forest.
This fall we will be continuing to care for our Trees to the Sea. Volunteers will be repairing irrigation lines, removing litter and dead trees, eliminating non-native and invasive species as well as mulching to help make this area something for our city to be proud of.
Ready to step up and help fight pollution in Los Angeles and El Segundo? Make a donation to the right and sign up for volunteer notifications by emailing us at volunteers@treemusketeers.org.
Thank you for all your support!
