This year's Make a Difference Day was a HUGE success! Our Youth Managers and Make a Difference Day Task Force geared up for a repeat of last year's results and planned for around 100 volunteers and 100 bags of litter and invasive species. But what actually happened blew everyone away!
On october 24th, 2015 volunteers decended upon Trees to the Sea along Imperial Highway here in El Segundo and during the course of a single hour collected 285 bags of trash! That's almost three times as much trash as last year in only half the time!
Trees to the Sea is the ONLY green pollution barriar between LAX and the South Bay and it is important that Tree Musketeers takes the lead in keeping it alive in order to protect local residents. We are still getting calls and emails from members of the local community commenting on how fantastic it looks on Imperial Highway!
And that was not the only fantastic news from October 24th...
During this year's event we had a live feed that could be seen online via our website's homepage, our Facebook page and on Youtube! This "Live Launch" was provided by our friends at DA14 Media and increased our media outreach for this event and for the year! Our President Talia Gerard told the audience online about the event and the role that Youth play both in planning and leading the festivities! We hope to continue utilizing live streams during future major events.
We want to thanks to everyone that participated and to all of you, our donors, for helping us Save our Trees to the Sea!
