This project will improve neonatal care services in rural Ghana to help save the lives of vulnerable newborn babies. Many infants born in underserved communities face life-threatening complications due to limited access to specialized newborn healthcare, medical equipment, and trained healthcare workers. This project will strengthen rural neonatal care by providing essential medical support, equipment, and healthcare services for newborns in critical need.
Newborn mortality remains a major health challenge in rural Ghana, where many healthcare facilities lack adequate neonatal care units, incubators, oxygen support, and trained staff. Premature birth complications, infections, breathing difficulties, and delayed medical care contribute significantly to preventable newborn deaths.
This project will provide neonatal healthcare equipment, medical supplies, and specialized support for rural health facilities caring for newborns. It will also strengthen the skills of healthcare workers through neonatal care training and improve access to essential services for high-risk babies and mothers.
The project will reduce newborn deaths, improve survival rates for premature and critically ill infants, and strengthen neonatal healthcare systems in rural Ghana. Families will gain better access to life-saving care for their babies, while healthcare facilities will improve their capacity to manage neonatal emergencies. Over time, this project will contribute to healthier childhood development and stronger maternal and child health outcomes.
