Dear donors and supporters of project SueTy,
Despite to all the known limitations explained in previous reports and due to the effects of this pandemic era in our project rural area, distance workshops are moving on, to try reaching our main goal of empowering children to conserve Apolinar's Wren.
Not having internet fluent access and having restrictions for personal meetings, we have only the small window to add our workshops along the also-restricted methodology that Guáquira's teacher has to deliver education in ocassional visits to the school. Please find some memory images attached.
Thank you all for having supported us along this challenge, and somewhat during first months of this coming year we hope of being able to complete our project purpose.
May you all have a wonderful Christmas in health with your beloved ones, and a New Year 2021 plenty of positive moments.
With gratefulness,
Felipe Velasco & Fundación Montecito

Dear donors and supporters,
On the one hand we want to share that, as it has been explained before, connectivity in our rural area for the SueTy project is scarce and, on top of that, limitations for a personal meeting with students is not being allowed by educational authorities... which means it is quite a struggle to move forward with our desired plans.
Nevertheless, our first booklet is ready for distribution to all the students of the Guaquira school, and they will be delivered in a few days from now in coordination with their teacher, Ms. M.Castro (video). Here is a copy-image of its content, as it will be received by each child (images attached below).
Soon after and once we get their homework back, we will deliver new booklets and tasks, aiming to gather enough feedback from them to prepare transmedia pieces using their sources by the end of this year, with which we will try to fulfill our project's objective, in the best possible manner provided the difficult circumstances.
On the other hand, we are feeling hopeful and greatful with project SueTy and with you all our supporters, since it has served us for inspiration to materialise a complementary initiative aimed to support children and youth for wetland conservation in rural areas of our region. It´s also partially motivated by the difficulties faced along this pandemic times, and we believe it represents a good answer to contribute on enriching alternatives for our rural children to continue pursuing capacities on nature conservation.
This is the Múcura Award for Wetland Conservation, which was just approved inside GlobalGiving for fundraising, please dive into it and consider sharing to your contacts or networks, aiming for support to prepare ourselves for next Mucura´s call for applications!—I truly hope you will like it: http://goto.gg/49365
And thank you once again, for being our project's supportive partners.
Warm regards,
Felipe Velasco + Fundación Montecito

Dear donors and supporters of project SueTy,
We had this interview ready for edition just before the pandemic started, so we had it paused for some time. Now we have finished it and feel it is the right moment to release it, because our project is active despite being forced to re-adjust the path to accomplish our goals - we are preparing a method to transmit our aimed objectives, addapting ourselves to new conditions still in place for schools in our country, and the complications to have a fluent online alternative in the rural area of our implementation.
This lovely interview given by María Mercedes Castro (lead techer at Guáquira school, Lake Tota) helps on revitalising the whole purpose of our project. I hope you enjoy it, and I would love to receive your comments about it: https://youtu.be/rpxupCJrMH8
Please do not hesitate to share about our project to others. What we are doing and are still ahead to do with project SueTy in response to the new conditions we are living in, is fully based on the generosity of people like you who is making it possible despite the many unforseen struggles we are facing.
And thank you again, for being our project's supportive partners.
Warm regards,
Felipe Velasco

Dear donors and supporters,
No doubt being already 2 months isolated is complicated. The school of our focus with project SueTy is closed, connectivity in the area is scarce, and possibilities to create virtual meetings or initiatives with kids are just nul.
So we are doing what we can, and booklet #1 final draft is ready! Please have a look to collage summary and some images of support, below.
My wife, Juanita, is the artist and illustrator, isn't it a great job? Check her drawings in detail, enjoy them all, and we are just hoping for this lockdown to ease in ways we can retake our field and school work as planned.
Thank you so much for being there, for supporting us, and I personally hope this Covid crisis can give all of us ideas of keeping it up with our jobs, forcing ourselves to accomplish our purposes using alternatives to reach and succeed in our goals - if not reacing that same ones, that's understandable I guess; but never giving it up!
Thank you for your permanent support, and we look forward for your continued engagement.
Warm regards,
Felipe Velasco + Fundación Montecito team

Dear donors and followers of project SueTy,
As times goes by during this Covid19 period in isolation, our home office has been active working on art illustrations for the booklets we will use along, with children in the rural school of Guáquira (Lake Tota). This work is time demanding and has been ideal for this particular span.
I hope you enjoy this samples (images below) of the mentioned activity, in progress. Art illustrator: Juanita Arango, from Fundación Montecito (Juanita has an academic background in art restorarion, and in previous months has been engaged in bird illustration; learning and practising - you can check this hummingbird-head feathers sample she published recently).
Thank you for your permanent support, and we look forward for your continued engagement.
Warm regards,
Felipe Velasco + Fundación Montecito team
