Your support will help secure and sustain shelter for women and children victims of domestic violence, preventing them to be forced to go back to their harassers. To escape their reality, women need to leave everything behind finding themselves with no house nor monetary autonomy. Your donations will support them through the path to a new start and will guarantee their children to access education.
Quite often we get calls to say "a woman is a victim of domestic violence she fears for her life, she needs a place to stay" we call the domestic violence shelter and they are often at full capacity. Our volunteers are asked to shelter victims, then subsequently we find an apartment from a private landlord, but we cannot afford a stand-alone apartment for each domestic violence victim, specifically those with children so we are setting up a safe house for urgent situations.
This project, and your support, will literally save the lives of women who are victims of domestic violence and in urgent need of a safe space. Domestic homicide has escalated, while some women became homeless resulting in sleeping on the streets with children. We want to secure women a safe space to go when they feel threatened by domestic abusers. Your support will provide us the monetary means to create and maintain such spaces while also providing substantial needs to support them.
This project will provide a safe space for five women and their children at a time, we will work with them to feel safe as they think, regroup, and get counseling to determine their next course of action. We will commit to empower them and reintegrate them safely into society. We hope this will inspire other organizations to set up safe houses to save the lives of women and provide much-needed support and services for victims of domestic violence in St. Lucia
