In our previous report, we were pleased to have provided 70 families in Brgy. Altavista in Matalom, Leyte with water filters. This has ensured clean and safe water for their family, especially the kids.
Currently, we have raised funds for another 16 water filters but are looking to raise funding to provide 82 families for the village of Brgy. Cabagna-an, La Castellana here on the island of Negros located near the beautiful Kanla-on volcano.
The community has a very active water association with the majority of women as officers. The water system we installed was completed in 2021 and the community has enjoyed the benefits of the increased volume of water closer to their homes.
We would like to thank our recurring donors for continuously donating to our project and are appealing to all our donors to help share this with your families, friends, and colleagues to touch the hearts of more people so we can ensure clean and safe drinking water for the village of Cabagna-an.
On August 20, AIDFI through our Operations Manager, distributed 70 units of water filters that were donated through the GlobalGiving platform from generous donors all over the world.
The water filters were distributed to members of the Altavista Ram Pump Farmers Water Workers Association (ALTARAFAWWA) and Grades 1 to 6 of Altavista Elementary School and Day Care Center.
Present during the handover ceremony was Engr. Nicanor Gondaya (former SB Member of Matalom), Mr. Reynaldo Capistrano (Altavista Elementary School Head), Mr. Rafael Gula (Punong Barangay of Brgy. Altavista), and Ms. Carla Gula (ALTARAFAWWA Chairperson).
The school head expressed their deepest gratitude to AIDFI that they were included in the distribution of water filters, this will ensure that water is safe for consumption by the students. He added that the beneficiaries should sustain and take good care of the blessings as this will also benefit future generations.
We have successfully raised funds to provide 75 families with water filters. In the coming weeks we will be conducting a selection of the village which have a water system installed that will receive the donation of water filters. Another report will then be uploaded to social media and an update will be sent through email.
We hope then that within the year we will be able to reach around 300 households and provide them with clean drinking water. Our ultimate goal of reaching 1,000 families or around 10 villages receiving water filters from our kind donors.
Our sincere thanks to our donors who continue to support our cause and advocacies.
