AIDFI's Social Sustainability Program provides long-term support to rural communities in the Philippines. Working with community organizations, we respond to evolving needs through organizational development, livelihoods and social enterprises, education, internet access, technical mentoring, and other practical support. Our goal is to strengthen communities and expand opportunities for members and their families over time.
Rural communities often receive support for a specific project or limited period, while their needs continue to evolve. Community organizations must remain strong, livelihoods must adapt, and families face continuing needs in education, connectivity, skills, and economic opportunity. Without sustained accompaniment and access to resources, communities can struggle to maintain progress and create opportunities for future generations.
AIDFI provides long-term accompaniment based on priorities identified with each community. Support may include organizational strengthening, livelihoods and social enterprises, technical mentoring, education and school assistance, internet access, and other community-led initiatives. The project initially supports two communities in Negros Occidental that have partnered with AIDFI since 2005 and 2011.
Stronger community organizations can sustain local initiatives, respond to changing needs, and create opportunities for their members and families. Improved access to livelihoods, education, skills, technology, and other resources can strengthen community resilience across generations. Over time, communities can build greater capacity and resources to identify and pursue their own development priorities.
