What does dignity look like for a vulnerable family? For some, it's a roof over their heads. For others, like Piloya Irene’s family, it’s something as simple—but life-changing—as a safe place to relieve themselves. Just a few months ago, this family of nine was using a crumbling mud structure with fallen walls, an open roof, and a floor that turned to mud every time it rained. It was dangerous, unhygienic, and deeply undignified. To make matters worse, they had just lost the seeds we gave them through our agricultural project when their grass-thatched house caught fire. But today, thanks to your support, they have a clean, private, two-room latrine with a separate bathroom—a place they can use with pride and safety. The handover was emotional, and the joy they expressed was beyond words.
This is not just one story. Earlier, Jennifer’s family—a household of eleven—had completely lost their latrine after it collapsed. Your support helped us construct a brand-new facility for them too. Though we were unable to paint it due to limited funds, it now serves the entire family, restoring both sanitation and dignity to their daily life.
So far, two out of our goal of 100 latrines have been constructed, directly impacting over 20 people with safe, sustainable sanitation solutions. Both families provided materials as their contribution to the project, showing incredible commitment despite their limited resources. Their participation made construction more affordable and meaningful—and created a strong sense of ownership.
Thank you for being part of this journey from vulnerability to transformation. With your continued generosity, we know we can reach more families, restore more dignity, and prevent more disease—one latrine at a time.
