My first Baby

In this report, we would like to share the story of Kamlesh in her voice

“I am Kamlesh, am 24 years old, a resident of Panki Gangaganj a small village in the Kanpur district, Uttar Pradesh. I was married to Prabhat in the year 2016. In 2018, I got the good news from the elders that I am Pregnant. This is my first baby. I wanted to go to the doctor as soon as possible as I have observed in my old village that people visit Doctor after getting the news of the pregnancy with the support of Merrytarang Worker.

But I was restrained for not visiting the doctor as they cost a lot. Further, the elders informed that there was no need to visit as they would be enough for the delivery. This is my first baby, I don’t want to take any kind of risk. As soon as, I visited my old village, I contacted Merrytarang Worker. She helped me to contact the Merrytarang Worker of my nearby area. My area’s Merrytarang worker referred me to Apna Merrygold Hospital that had not charged any money for my check-ups and delivery. She not only supported me in all the checkup and delivery for 9 months but also counseled my village community about the importance of institutional delivery. When I had my first checkup, I got to know that there could be complications in my pregnancy because of my low weight. The doctor informed me not to worry as it can be handled with proper care. Last month, I delivered my first baby.

Whenever I think about the past in which I had the pressure for not visiting the doctor, I feared that what could have been happened to my baby. After My delivery, I come to know about the sponsors who employee Merrytarang workers and avail my free delivery.

First baby: Story of a successful delivery

With the advent of the New Year, we are glad to share that we have completed four years of successful implementation of the project through your generous donations. We would like to thank you for all your support in making this project a success. We gratefully accept your recent contributions! Thank you. HLFPPT has been able to work for poor pregnant mothers with safe delivery at hospitals along with all necessary medical care during pregnancy and after delivery.

So far, we have experienced many success stories. 25 years old Neha, resident of Mughalsarai, Uttar Pradesh have one of the success stories. She became very curious about her pregnancy after getting good news of having their first baby. She used to ask questions to friends and elders in the community but she never got satisfied with the answers. She decided to visit a doctor. But she had no choice for that as the nearest Government hospital was very far and the private hospital were way too expensive. One day, she happened to meet one of her old friend, our Merry Tarang Worker. Merry Tarang worker informed her about nearest Merrygold Hospital and its affordability. She visited the doctor at MerryGold Hospital where she found that her pregnancy is complicated and C-Sec needed to be done. She was happy for making this decision to visit Merrygold. She delivered her first baby with all the support and cared from MerryGold Health Network. She named her daughter Disha after knowing about her donor. She said that MerryGold Health Network had given her the best care. Staff behavior was very supportive and all the queries were answered in the hospital.

You Saved the Lives of Pinky and Pooja

Thanks to your support, we are able to save life of one more mother and baby. In India, Women face various barriers to visiting a health facility to seek delivery care. These include cost of care, access to clinics, cultural factors, quality of care, and a lack of health awareness. Many mothers in India give their and their children lives due to these factors.

Similarly, Pooja was about to lose her and her baby’s life due to lack of knowledge about institutional delivery and ante natal care. Living in the community where institutional delivery was never promoted, Pooja never realized what she was doing with her. She have not gone for any antenatal checkup until she met Anita, our merrytarang health worker at her 7^th month of pregnancy. When Anita come to know about Pooja that she had not seen the doctor ever in her pregnancy, she counseled her and took her to nearby Merry Gold Health Network Madhulok Hospital.

Pooja already developed complication in her pregnancy before her first visit to doctor. But as she visited to the doctor, her complication came into the notice. Only 2 months were left in her delivery and a lot of care was required to save Pooja and her babies life. MGHN Madhulok Hospital provided full support to Pooja. As she was poor and cannot afford the services, HLFPPT supported her in getting free services just because of your contribution. Two months of continuous follow ups and treatment, finally the day of her pregnancy come. The day when the fate of Pooja and her baby was yet to be decided.

After C- Section delivery, the doctor was able to save both Pooja and Pinky. This day have never existed, if Pooja and her family did not agreed to Anita and your contribution was not available for Pooja’s Help.

With your gracious support, we strive to move ahead with our goals and be constant in our endeavor to support and help mothers for safe pregnancy. With utmost consistency, HLFPPT is making efforts to save lives through its MerryGold Health Network by offering affordable and accessible quality services.
