Happy Fourth of July! I hope everyone is having a relaxing long weekend, spending time with friends and family, and staying out of the summer heat!
Our team (both in the US and Uganda) truly appreciates the support you've given us, and we wanted to give you some updates about some exciting new developments.
Uganda Heroes Day
National Heroes Day is celebrated annually in Uganda to commemorate those individuals that provide service to the country in both the public and private sectors. This year, the celebration was held on June 9th. PHP staff members commemorated the day by participating in team-building activities! See the great action photo above.
Investment for Equity
We are always looking for innovative ways to fund our programs and to provide continued support to our partner communities. To this end, we have been working for about a year on a concept paper called "Investment for Equity." I'm happy to report that it was recently completed, and we believe it presents an innovative idea which has the potential not only to drive the organization's development but also to make a lasting impact on the humanitarian sector as a whole. We will be rolling out more details in the coming weeks, but we wanted to let you know in advance because we're SO excited! Stay tuned!
Interns Arrive in Uganda!
There are some new faces on the ground in Uganda! Jasmine Kipke and Christine Convery (seen in the photos with PHP staff members and Village Health Team members) are students at the University of Michigan who will be interning with us this summer. They arrived in Uganda in late May and hit the ground running. Jasmine and Christine bring tremendous work ethic and perspective -- as well as energy and enthusiasm -- to the PHP-Uganda office, and we're delighted to be working with them this summer!
That's it for now. Enjoy your long weekend!
Be well,
Eddie
