The year 2018 has peacefully started at the AGAPE Center. Between the end of year and new year holidays, everything went well. Everyone was healthy and fit to face this New Year. The AGAPE Center has received pleasant visits, such as those of Mr. Chris from the American School of Douala, the head of the Social Center of New Bell Bassa, the stay of Solenca. This period was also marked by the organization within the AGAPE Center, an open day, the donation of the company Beneficial Life for construction and the participation of the Center in its second spring market.
Mr. Chris is the special needs coordinator at the American School of Douala. He is also the NHS (National Honor Society) advisor, a group of young people from the American school who are looking for volunteering opportunities. He came to meet the children at the AGAPE Center in early February, to find out firsthand what is done there. He went back very pleased.
The new Social Service Head for New Bell Bassa after taking office organized a short meet the people tour during which she visited various centers in her zone. It was during this tour that she visited the AGAPE Center on February 6, 2018. She and her collaborators, were able to make a guided tour of the Center. She showed appreciation for what is done at the AGAPE Center and made certain proposals notably the need to work closely with her services and to solicit their services as much as possible.
The Solenca team arrived in Cameroon for a two-week work stay, focused on intensifying the search for funding in Cameroon and preparing the various parties (children, parents, supervisors) for the changes to come. This in relation to life in the future center. And as usual, they came with clothes, shoes, school needs and little board games for the entertainment of the children.
The open house was organized on February 17, 2018. It was a moment of communion between the AGAPE Center, its children and various visitors. It was above all a means of publicizing the Center and its various activities. All those who stopped by were pleased with their visit. It basically consisted in making a guided tour of the center, exchanges on the history of the AGAPE children, the purpose of the center and future prospects. The children presented a play, which once again moved all those who were watching the show for the second time.During this open day, a Cameroonian actress, Patricia Bakalack and a musical artist Mahoussi came to visit the Center. Mahoussi sang some songs from her album. All went on very well, and would be put simply by saying that "the absentees missed out a lot".
The insurance company BENEFICIAL LIFE offered us the sum of 2,500,000 Francs to support our construction project. Join them and participate in this noble project to make it a reality. The AGAPE Children need you!
The AGAPE association participated for the second year in a row in the spring market. It was held at the Eneo Tennis Club in Bonanjo. It was a pleasant day, very sunny. AGAPE sold homemade products such as plantain chips, bissap and various jams, made from pineapple and papaya. It was the ideal opportunity for us to make the AGAPE Center known and to communicate on what we do.
This is the beginning of the holidays, marking the end of the second term. How time flies! We have already done the 2.5 / 3 of the school year. But so far, the results of some of the children are still a little far from what we had hoped for. There are some of them who are still struggling, while others are doing quite well.
