Dear AGAPE friend,

We are delighted to keep you informed of the outcome of your donation to the AGAPE Center through Global Giving. We first of all wish to express once again our sincere gratitude for all your supports and for making it possible for us to be part of the Global Giving projects.

We have recently received the funds from Global Giving. It comes very handy as we are getting prepared for the next academic school year. You donation will go directly toward the school fees (85%), school uniforms, sport uniform, school supplies - All this totals at about 1.300 USD. Most of the remaining will help us run the center: feeding, salaries and utility bills. Thanks to your donation we will be able to send 16 kids vulnerable to school this year. Parents of the kids are asked to contribute at 15% so that they are not totally assisted. School books will now be available for each level in the center for tutoring purposes.

Your donations is also helping us to sort out individual cases of sicknesses and cases such the two followings:

  • Thanks to your support we are now able to truly give one of the AGAPE's  kid  a better chance to stay far from the dangers of the street. Lionel, 13,  is an orphan of both parents. We were able to send back Lionel back to school after an academic year in the streets due to lack of funds even though he is a very bright boy. We still owed the school 20.000 F CFA (40 USD), your donation will allow us to sort out this debt. Lionel lives with his maternal aunt who has no means paying electricity and other bills that was taken care by Lionel's mother.  He continues to find himself too much often  in the streets where he got used to play rooms and bad companies. After concerted discussion with him and his aunt, here is what he said  “The street is a place where I can find distraction. I think I can leave the street life if light is reinstalled in our home, this way I can watch TV at home and stay busy there”.  Your support on Global Giving is helping AGAPE Association to handle this situation by paying the electricity bills and completing his school fees of 2013- 2014 academic year. It will of course ensure his 2014-15 academic school are covered. Lionel will not have anymore reasons to return to the street thanks to your care and donation. Thank you.

  • Audric, 15, is a very responsible and applied at the school boy. He lives with a single mum and is forced to sell bottle of peanuts in the street to pay for his school fees and support his mother. Audric is so determined to succeed that since we opened the center he walks longs distance to come to the center to benefit from the tutor's teaching. He has shown lot commitment this academic year. He has saved 60% of the amount needed to buy himself a second hand bike to cover the distance from home to school, school to center, center to home every day. Your donation to AGAPE Center through Global Giving will help him with  the remaining 40% (15.000f cfa, about 30USD) to purchased this bicycle. Thank you.

Before working for AGAPE, I did not know small amount like these could truly change lives. No donation is too small as you can see. Thank you for making this possible.
