IMPACT Project Report- May to July 2016
Project Name: Run an 85-bed child cancer ward in India
Project ID : 19108
Story of a little brave heart who fought a solid tumor :
Name : Enosh
Age : 4 years
Diagnosis : ALCL (Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma)
Story of Enosh’s fight in his father’s words (translated into English):
“My name is Yaddaiah. My son was diagnosed with ALCL (Anaplastic Large cell Lymphoma) in December, 2015. We are from an interior village of Nalgonda. As a matter of fact we never travelled out of our village. This is the first time we are visiting Hyderabad and that too unfortunately for treatment of my Son, our only child born to us after three traumatic abortions.
He was suffering with continuous fever and swelling in the neck for 25 days. We consulted various doctors in our hometown. Finally they referred my Son to Hyderabad Private Hospital or Niloufer Hospital.
We were in a dilemma and stayed back for one week wondering how we can bear the high expenses for treatment in city. I had already spent so much money on his treatment in my home town. I am a daily wage sheep herder working for a local farm landlord. My employer suggested that we take him to a Government Hospital in the city which treats children free of cost. We reached Niloufer Hospital Hyderabad with the help of members from our village. Having perused the report the doctors referred us to MNJ Institute of Oncology and Regional Cancer Centre for further investigation.
We consulted with Dr. Sudha Sinha, Pediatric Oncologist, Medical Oncology Department. She was very pleasant to talk with and gave us hope that my child will get cured. My child was diagnosed with ALCL (Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma) and was immediately admitted to Pediatric ward run by IMPACT. IMPACT Counselors came forward to explain
the entire process of Chemo therapy. I still remember I cried bitterly thinking about my son’s critical medical situation and my helpless financial status, but IMPACT Counselors gave me lot of hope and I was strengthened with their words. IMPACT gave me money for my Son’s Nutrition needs, Blood products and assured medicine free of cost. Though we went through testing times , I felt so relived and happy when my son successfully completed the first phase of Chemo Therapy. IMPACT assured that they will take responsibility for the entire treatment and required nutritional and medicinal needs.
My son is finally cured after 6 months of chemo therapy treatment with the help of IMPACT team. I can’t thank enough for the psychological and financial support provided by IMPACT team. We never lacked a thing after getting admitted into IMPACT Ward. They are really Godsend in saving our little one struggling with this deadly disease.
I can’t believe that my son is completely cured and we are back to our village. I also thank all IMPACT donors who generously donating money for our little son. May God always bless you for helping needy people like us.”
