Greetings everyone!
On behalf of PIES de la Tierra A.C., we are pleased to share exciting progress in our restoration project in northern Mexico, continuing our commitment to local communities.
Since mid-2023, we have been working diligently to secure collaborations and funding for this project. Fortunately, in 2024, we have received various donations to advance our efforts. These funds will enable us to reforest more than 30 hectares and construct 5 latrines and 65 roof water harvesting systems for houses.
It is important to remind you that we are facing a severe drought in the Sierra Tarahumara, causing some communities to migrate due to climate change. Additionally, the drinking water in these communities is of very poor quality due to the lack of toilets and latrines in their territory.
Our goals for this year and the next are ambitious yet crucial. We aim to achieve these targets in the Rarámuri communities of Coyachique and Kowinapchi (El Pandito), located in the Batopilas municipality, the third poorest in Mexico. With your help and that of other donors, we can make these communities' strong voices heard and their needs addressed.
Thanks to your continued support and trust, we can carry out this vital work. Each contribution makes a significant difference, propelling us towards a more sustainable future. We are committed to transparency in our efforts and hope this update reflects our positive impact in the region.
We deeply appreciate your essential role in this journey. Let's keep walking together towards a healthier and more equitable environment!
