The incidences of blindness due to cataract are wide spread in Gaibandha district in Bangladesh, where people are very poor. 500 cataract patients from 10 villages will be selected in camps. Selection process and operations have already begun. Patients are selected in camps in villages. Selected patients are brought to our hospital and operated. 40 cataract operations have already been made.
500 patients will be selected from 10 villages. The process has already started in December, 2009.
The impact is immense. The people who got back their eye sights following surgery become productive immediately to their families and the society, besides the psychological impact on their kids and wives whom they saw after few years of blindness.
