Need for a functioning Laboratory at the Resource
By QUEEN OBASI | PRESIDENT
As we continue to provide healthcare to the less privileged and under served in rural areas of Nigeria. We have seen the need to have a functioning laboratory for follow up care at the resource center. Due to the poverty level and the lack of any good laboratory in the area for the blood levels to monitor those on medications for diabetes and hypertension, this is a needed service to help promote life and prevent complications. We are currently using LAB-IN-A-SUITCASE during our annual outreach and the tests done with this equipment is limited. With the lab we will be able to monitor the effectiveness of the medications and any side effects from the medications also. We are trying to raise money to be able to initiate the project during our November mission and will need your continued support as we try to make this important addition to our program, so we can serve the people better.

Landscaping at the site.
By QUEEN OBASI | PRESIDENT
The building process is still in progress and work is being done to get the building completed and ready for more work. We currently have a bore at the site and have drinking water for the community where the building is situated and communities around it. We tried to increase the number of outlets for easy access to the public, but we were advised to only fortify the outlets instead to avoid overloading the system. To reach more people with more drinking water we will have to drill another borehole; and this will cost the same amount if not more fo this to happen. The annual maintenance program is being conducted at the site and it is going very well.
One of the problems will are faced with at the site is the surrounding. There is an aggressive weed that is the compound and that is attracting snakes and making it little dangerous to use the site for the monthly follow-up. The place has to weed twice a month to help maintain the area but it still grows and poses more danger to the attendees. We have started the landscaping at the compound by pouring concrete on the floor after uprooting the grass. This we started with the little money we have which is below the budgeted amount to construct the landscaping. The work is in not yet completed due to funding and we do need your continued support to complete this project. We have also started putting things together for the needed laboratory at the center for continuity of care. Thanks for your continued support and in seeing this as a needed program for the rural communities in Africa.

Work at the Resource Center
By QUEEN OBASI | PRESIDENT
The Resource Center at Amakohia in Ihitte/Uboma LGA continues to be our site for the outreach in this community. We currently have a functioning source of drinking water supply serving this community at this place. We also conducted this year’s medical mission successfully at center without any difficulty. The availability of toilet facility at the center also contributed to the success of this mission. We have all our donors, friends, organizations like Friends of Nigeria who has made funds available to assist in the ACHI has concluded its 2017 medical outreach in the following communities- Avutu Obawo, Amakaohia village in Ihitte Uboma and Umugolo village in Ehime Mbano LGA, all in Imo state. The deplorable health continues in these rural areas continues to be a great concern. The lack of health care access to in the country is getting worse due to the bad economy. The none payment of salaries, pensions to the retires and unemployment has worsened the health of the population. medical care and availability is dependent on one’s ability to pay for the service before it is rendered, and this has sent a lot of individuals to their early grave. The ones with chronic diseases like diabetes and hypertension cannot afford their medications or regular doctors visit for continuity of care
remodeling of this building, and all the work that is being done to make sure our dream of having a place to house medical supplies and equipment, reinforcing education on chronic disease management, to thank for all this. We are still working on having a functioning medical laboratory at this center for follow- up care. Secondly, we are trying to get the land scaping done to help in managing the place and to help in making the environment safe and free of some creatures like termites that is destroying some of the medical supplies. We continued to need your help in getting this done.
