Lucille alive and well
New Beginnings Cat Rescue wants you to know how much we value your support. With the overcrowded animal shelters, our volunteers have to be ready to jump into action on a moment’s notice. Knowing we have your support means the difference between life and death for dozens of cats.
Over the past few months, New Beginnings Cat Rescue has responded to many requests to rescue cats and kittens who were on the “Urgent List”. One cat in particular was in a desperate situation.
After 14 years of being a loving, loyal companion, Lucille was dumped at a shelter by her owners. The chaotic environment of the shelter stressed her to the point that she stopped eating, quickly became ill and lost a lot of weight. But luck was on her side.
With little time left before being euthanized, New Beginnings Cat Rescue was notified of this sweet senior who needed help and Lucille was immediately put into foster care; however, her health had declined so rapidly that she couldn’t eat, was lethargic and developed constant, excessive drooling. This drooling made it impossible to treat her with oral medicine or to force feed her. It was decided that a surgically placed feeding tube was her best and only chance to build her strength back.
Fortunately this little survivor never gave up. After only a few days on a feeding tube Lucille began to bounce back. She started eating on her own, regained her strength, gained much needed weight and her personality blossomed.
This petite, affectionate cat has a lot to say. She loves to be petted and wants to know where you are at all times. Lucille has perfect house manners and is so endearing. This little sweetheart has so much love to give and many more years to give it.
On behalf of all the cats who have been saved from being euthanized as a result of your support, Thank you!
