Dear Supporters,
What a year it has been for CIWY, and it's only July!
You may have heard our big news, that CIWY will be leaving Machia Sanctuary, which sits on government-owned land, and operating only 2 sanctuaries from now on: Ambue Ari and Jacj Cuisi (both owned outright by CIWY).
We will be transferring 167 rescued animals from Machia to Jacj Cuisi over the next year. We believe this will be a positive change – the animals will have more space (300 hectares) in more pristine jungle at Jacj Cuisi -- but the transition poses a great financial and logistical hurdle.
The team has done an amazing job mobilizing resources and creating a transition plan. We have already successfully completed the new Albifrons Area and moved the “A-team” (White-fronted Capuchin Monkeys) safely across the country and into their new home. Check our social media to watch their bus trip and arrival!
We are reaching far and wide to raise the funds needed to complete this ambitious project and continue providing the best care possible to all the rescued animals. We are deeply grateful to all of you for supporting our work, especially the monthly donors who help us cover the regular care costs of the animals.

Some of you are new to CIWY, becoming a supporter after reading Laura Coleman's wonderful book The Puma Years, which was published a month ago. The recent surge of donations helps us breathe a little easier. Laura's memoir about her time at CIWY was an instant best seller on Amazon and continues to top the charts for ‘Travel’ and ‘Biographies by Environmentalists’. If you haven’t read it yet, check it out. Jane Goodall said “You will love this book” and we agree!
Thank you all and be sure to follow us on facebook or Instagram for lots of exciting things this month!
Kindest regards,
Comunidad Inti Wara Yassi (CIWY) and Friends of Inti Wara Yassi (FIWY)
