Dear CIWY Supporters,
Thank you for donating to this GlobalGiving campaign, which we created last December to support CIWY with $12,000 in 2019. You and 104 other donors raised $11,022, plus more than $1,000 in matching funds from GlobalGiving! This provided CIWY with an extra $1,000 per month to care for over 500 rescued animals at the three sanctuaries in Bolivia.
CIWY has faced some huge challenges this year, and we are quite literally in crisis mode as we look towards 2020. You are probably aware of the socio-political turmoil ensnaring Bolivia right now. The consequences of this situation have rippled through the country and threaten the continued operation of CIWY’s sanctuaries.
Food prices have increased by up to 5 times the normal cost (and we have large animal diets to sustain). Road blockades have restricted the arrival of food, supplies, and volunteers. Travel advisories have also deterred many volunteers from entering the country, bringing CIWY’s volunteer numbers to an all-time low. This means CIWY’s income is also low, just as operating costs have multiplied by 5.
Please help CIWY survive the coming months with a contribution on Giving Tuesday. We hope to raise $15,000. All donations made on December 3 will earn matching funds from GlobalGiving. It starts at Midnight ET/ 1am Bolivia/ 5am UK / 5pm Melbourne. We’ll post a reminder on facebook!
