This project will renovate a building in Mombasa, Kenya providing a larger space to house all of our holistic programs including our fast-growing childcare program, our computer literacy, ESL, and financial literacy programs as well as our food program all of which are offered to our artisans free of charge. In order to empower women, we must provide them all of the tools they need to thrive. This is the heartbeat of our holistic programs and we need your help!
The UN states, "Poverty eradication is only possible through stable and well-paid jobs." Mombasa's unemployment rate is at 49%. Workers in extreme poverty struggle to invest in safe living conditions, child education, and necessary healthcare that produces the next generation of economic opportunity. This is why Imani's holistic support programs are imperative. While our artisan community grows, we must be able to fulfill our promise of holistic programming in a larger space.
Imani Collective provides our holistic support including childcare, ESL, financial literacy, computer literacy, leadership development, and our food program to all of our artisans because we recognize if we truly want to lift artisans out of poverty, we must provide comprehensive resources. As Imani grows, so does our need for more space to house our holistic programs.
This renovation project will support 30 more artisans and their children to rise out of poverty through holistic support while also creating a healthier environment for our artisans and their children throughout the day.
