Last rainfall was on January 30 in in other areas of Blantyre, Chikwawa, Nsanje, Mwanza and Mneno Districts Since February 2024 begining the weather is very hot and many plants are failing to grow while drying due to droughts that is covering the region. Many families are struggling , failing to get food items to feed their families hence other Children goes into the bush fetching wild trees r9ts that structured like Cassava bring them home regardless of edible or not.
Hot weather that Malawi is experiencing at the moment when Malawi was expecting mature crops and heavy rains, the weather has changed while bringing Heavy Drought in the region drying food crops before maturity.
Following the government declaration on acute food insecurity affecting 28 districts. The President of the Republic of Malawi requests NGOs and well Wishers to take action helping people affected and it is about 4.4 million people.This project will supply relief items and suplementary seeds while mobilizing the community to turn on irrigation family where there is water in the river that surrounds them. By the end of the day families will depend on the harvests from the irrigation farming.
Farming is the back borne of every family hence failure of rainfall the crops have perished to zero. This project will help families harvest and get relief items while the farming season will be longer than usual, that demands relief food items as they are doing irrigation farming
