Our Project, titled, ''RELEASE A POOR PETTY OFFENDER FROM A GHANA PRISON'' unfortunately could not attract a single donor. This is surprising considering the human right value of the project which seeks to release, rehabilitate, integrate and give skills training to poor petty offenders in a country touted as the beacon of democracy and champion of human rights in Africa, yet has no Non-custodial Law. The development has dimmed the hopes of Ghanaian petty offenders in jail who saw our project as a redemptive intervention that could enable them reset their priorities to enable them contribute to national development. The failure to attract donors for this worthy project therefore means petty offenders in Ghanaian jails, some of whom are juveniles with inflated ages in adult jails as well as the very old and weak who were mostly imprisoned without access to legal counsel, will have to rot in jail.
