Christmas event

Thank you for your generous heart that is always open towards our organization Les Enfants de Dieu (EDD), we are thrilled to have your supports over the years. Through your support we have been able to successfully start implementing a pilot phase of the new curriculum model whereby the parents of the kids were invited to the center for a number of psychosocial sessions ranging from emotional wound healing to strengthening resilience and awakening parents’ ambitions as well as building attachment between parents and the kids. We have been able to carry out 5 sessions, and parents were facilitated to attend the sessions as we provided them lunch and a two way transport tickets upon each session. The session were attended at 80% and understood at rate of 86 % as in late middle December2019 a number of 26 children have been successfully joined their families as they went back home with their parents upon completion of last session.

We are happy again to let you know that your effort during Giving Tuesday compaign generated $15,000 including matching funds and we are very grateful and appreciative for donating to us on that day.

Psychosocial educational support:

For education support, kids were helped with daily school routine and introduction to basic numeracy and literacy as well as basic computer skills and english kills, music skills such playing instruments like piano and guitars were the knowledge equipped to our kids, and local as well as western dance were also incorporated in basic education package for our kids, they were also taught life skills such leadership and team work.

Upon reintegration, the center will continue to pay school fees and school materials for reintegrated kids, and this area of intervention will continue to grow bigger than before as each 6 months we are required to rehabilitate 100kids each year. Around 265 kids who are already with their families EDD continued to sponsor them as we have not yet found other partners who can work with in education support.

For social support interventions, kids were helped with moral support through our new family structure where they learnt a new value each week as upon the beginning of the week they implemented the learnt value through the planed daily home-affairs such as doing hygiene by moping within the center, washing clothes, preparing and serving food to other kids.

For psychological support, The intervention started by a number of diagnostic approaches as means of identifying the problem that kids were suffering from or in other word reason behind that pushed kid to abandon his family and go to street, and after that, counsellors helped kids with a number of healing through various approaches suitable to each individual depending the case.

Health care intervention, over the last three months we got 6 cases of malaria ,6 cases of teeth disorders,2 cases of tonsils ,2 cases of intestinal parasite ,2cases of skin disorders ,8 cases of influenza and 1 case of physical fracture.

On 18th December 2019, the awaited event which was Christmas and family reunion took place and went well as expected, the entire EDD family namely (kids ,alumni, staff, parents of the kids, board of directors ,donors and other partners such government officials and community leaders as well as headmasters of the school at which our kids study) got together on that day ,the objective of the day was to celebrate to help kids who are still at the center meet their brothers who lived in the center and reintegrated some years ago so that they can inspire them and put life to their hope. We were also celebrating 18years mission of transforming street kids into valuable members of society.

Since the start of December we have been renovating one of our building so as we can make money out of it through renting. The remaining is to finish working on the fence and very soon we shall be receiving tenants.

We are very thankful to all of you who constantly support our mission of transforming street kids into valuable members of society. You truly make the difference for us, and we are extremely greatful. As we have been together over the last years we stay hopeful to stand united and continue the of transforming more lives in this new year of 2020.
